Medals success for new CQ trampoline program

Premium Content Subscriber only A newly formed trampoline program has announced its arrival on the competitive scene, with its members bagging a host of medals at a recent competition in Caloundra. Decorated coach Kerry Smyth heads up Extreme Trampoline CQ, which is based at the Yeppoon Showgrounds. Sam Durkin, Matt Grieves, Elloise Wogand, Talia Bauman, Paige Brady, Ainslee Bettridge, Izabel and Helana Batson took part in Gymnastics Queensland’s Extravaganza 2020 state levels. They contested 15 events, winning eight medals and achieving finals (top six) in 14 of them. Smyth said those were great performance statistics. Members of the newly formed Extreme Trampoline CQ program put in impressive performances at Caboolture.

Young athletes to watch at gymnastics extravaganza

Premium Content Subscriber only From the pommel horse to parallel bars, rising Sunshine Coast youth are poised to shine in their pet events during the final days of the Gymnastics Queensland Extravaganza. More than 40 talents from the Maroochy Beach Gymnastics club will descend on Caloundra Indoor Stadium alongside 2100 athletes from 75 clubs across the state for the event this weekend. Acrobatics, trampoline, tumbling, rhythmic and aerobic gymnastics disciplines have already been held, with the coming days to showcase the more traditional artistic disciplines and apparatuses. The 10-day event wraps up on Monday. It ll be the Wises Rd club s one and only competition for the year after COVID-19 wreaked havoc on sport.
