A fresh plea has been filed for an ASI survey of all closed cellars of Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi. The petitioner, Rakhi Singh, is seeking to reveal the entire truth of the mosque by surveying the secret cellars. The Varanasi district court will hear the petition on Tuesday.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) report revealed that a large Hindu temple may have once existed at the site of Gyanvapi mosque in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, a senior lawyer, representing the Hindu side, said after receiving a detailed survey report.

Earlier in the day, the high court dismissed a petition filed by the Gyanvapi committee challenging a district court order directing the ASI to conduct the survey to determine if the mosque was built upon a temple.
