An ASI team arrived in the city on Sunday to conduct the survey, news agency PTI reported. It also quoted advocate of the Hindu side, Madan Mohan Yadav, saying that the team will start the survey around 7 am.
A Varanasi district court on Friday directed the Director of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct a "scientific survey" of the Gyanvapi mosque premises, excluding the previously sealed area (wuzukhana).
The Varanasi Court today allowed a "scientific survey" of the entire Gyanvapi mosque premises, except the 'wuzukhana' area which was sealed on the Supreme Court's directions, by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The court said the scientific survey will be carried out by ASI between 8 and 12 AM and clarified that there will be no restrictions on namaz and no damage should be caused to the mosque.
