Sonya Treshcheva played doubles alongside either Kim Hansen or Sofya Golubovskaya for six of Syracuse’s 11 matches in the shortened 2020 season. Treshcheva and Golubovskaya were partners during the 2018-19 season, when the duo won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional Championship in fall 2018 and seven other matches during the season.
But with Hansen leaving the team in 2021 and Golubovskaya missing the season with an injury, Treshcheva needed a new partner.
That partner turned out to be Polina Kozyreva. The sophomore played two matches alongside Treshcheva in 2020, winning one and losing one as they adjusted to a new doubles pairing.

Natalie Novotna and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya were in the middle of a deciding tie-breaker match, one point away from winning their doubles set and sealing the doubles point for Syracuse. But the pair couldn’t close it out.
They saw No. 32 Wake Forest’s Carolyn Campana and Eliza Omirou rally from behind three points to win 9-7 and take the doubles round. Much like the rest of the season, after losing the doubles point, Syracuse ultimately went on to lose the match.

Miranda Ramirez and Guzal Yusupova huddled one last time, covering their mouths with their hands before Yusupova served and Florida State’s return hit the net. The pair of graduate students won at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, with head coach Younes Limam clapping and encouraging the two between points.
“It was a great start to the day,” Limam said about the No. 3 doubles match. “I was really pleased (with) how we closed that match.”
