A massive rescue operation was started on Friday night at the accident site in Bahanaga Bazar near Balasore to pull out people trapped in the derailed coaches. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a one-day state mourning due to the accident.
This is one of the most death-dealing train crashes in India, including the Coromandel Express and Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express in which till now 233 people were killed and about 900 injured in Odisha. Rescue ops are underway at the site of the mishap.
