KOHIMA Ruth Haichem from Longleng district was a recipient of Pragyan Bharati Scooty Scheme among several girl candidates who scored at least 60% above in Class 12 launched by the Assam government. Ruth Haichem recently received a scooty from Assam government for scoring above 60% in the class 12 examination. The scheme was mainly launched for the girl candidates to encourage and support their education. It was learnt that the scheme has been entitled to meritorious girl candidates regardless of whichever state they came from to study in the state of Assam. DIMAPUR Guwahati Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union (GENSU), with the assistance from the Naga Students’ Union Guwahati (NSUG), rescued a 20-year-old lad on April 25 night around 10:30 pm, who was a victim of a fraudulent company based in Guwahati. An update from GENSU stated that the victim made his way to Guwahati from Mon having been lured by the company for a job and was kept in confinement for days, feeding him only once a day. It stated that GENSU officials led by its president, Wangyat Wangsu, reached the spot and rescued the victim. Meanwhile, GENSU has warned of fraud companies and agencies operating in Guwahati offering alluring jobs in which many Nagas are falling prey to such scheme. The union stated that it has been trying its best to curb such issues and had also rescued many individuals who were victims of the deception and scammers.
