Nature’s Sunshine CEO Terrence Morehead attributed the company’s strong performance to a transformation of the company’s ecommerce platforms which was completed in the second and third quarters. With it, the company rolled out a new auto ship program that has proven popular with consumers.

“After just a few months, Subscribe and Thrive already represents about 25% of our monthly orders, and we continue to see steady growth in the number of people join the program each month,” Morehead said during an earnings call with stock analysts. Just like the human dietary supplement category, sales of pet supplements also jumped in 2020. Packaged Facts reported that growth rates for pet supplements quadrupled from 2019 to 2020.

Sweden’s probiotics firm Probi continues its collaborative mood by striking an agreement with an Australian-based university to pursue further insights into how probiotics promote bone health.
The agreement with Melbourne-based La Trobe University reiterates Probi’s efforts into what influences bone strength, particularly in later years and where the gut microbiome fits into bone metabolism, microarchitecture and density.
“Recent scientific evidence has consistently highlighted the important role of the gut microbiome on bone health,” explains research group leader Dr George Moschonis at La Trobe University,
