Exchanges will remain closed on Monday as there will be a stock market holiday for both equity and derivative markets on the occasion of the inauguration of Ram Mandir.
In January, exchanges will remain closed on January 26 on account of Republic Day, which is falling on Friday. Hence, there will be three consecutive days off for investors/traders following a long weekend of Saturday and Sunday.
Equity markets will be shut for a total of 14 days in 2024, one less than the current year 2023. In the year 2023, markets were closed for 15 annual holidays.
The exchanges may alter any of the above holidays, for which a separate circular will be issued in advance. Both Sensex and Nifty have delivered high teen returns in the year 2023, which was marked by monetary tightening and high inflation. In the year 2023, markets were closed for 15 annual holidays.
