The enforcement wing of town and country planning department razed 14 houses that were being built illegally on plots earmarked for economically weaker section (EWS) in U block of DLF 3 on Friday. The move came after several complaints registered with the department alleging illegal construction on 60-square yard EWS category plots. Subsequently, a team was constituted and a survey conducted, which revealed 14 under-construction houses violating the norms. DTCP officials said that the offenders carried out unauthorized constructions in violation of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act No. 8 of 1975. Major violations include construction of extra floors and extended balconies, 100% coverage of plot areas, clubbing of two or more plots to construct commercial buildings like offices, shops, and eateries.
