A special NIA court here on Wednesday sentenced two men to five years imprisonment after they pleaded guilty to the charge of trying to revive the Khalistan movement. Gurjeet Singh, who was living in Cyprus for some years, was the main conspirator, the NIA said.The trial against the other two accused will continue.

New Delhi, Dec 28: Over the past few weeks, the agencies, the National Investigation Agency in particular has swung into action to bust modules relating to the Khalistan movement. Last wee an absconding Khalistan terrorist Gurjeet Singh Nijjar, who was hiding in Cyprus (Europe) was arrested at New Delhi Airport by the National Investigation Agency.
For the the past couple of years, several attempts have been made to set up modules in Punjab with an intention reviving terrorism. Of late there has been a surge in the activities of the ISI backed Khalistani activists. Several leaders have come out to say that Pakistan wants to divide the Sikh community.
