Four policemen found guilty of contempt of court for flogging some minority community members in Kheda district on Wednesday requested the Gujarat High Court that they be directed to pay compensation rather than being given punishment.
The magistrate could identify four police persons police inspector A V Parmar, police sub-inspector D B Kumavat, police constable Rajubhai Rameshbhai Dabhi and head constable Kanaksinh Laxmansinh DAbhi and could ascribe specific roles.
According to the FIR lodged at Morva Hadaf police station, the incident occurred on July 17, hours after Baria (27) and his partner Bhavna Patel (23) arrived in the village after being "summoned" to record a police statement by the accused.
