The YSRCP swept the elections in all the nine Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the district for which counting concluded on Saturday.
In the Kurnool Municipal Corporation, for which elections were held after more than a decade due to court cases, a YSRCP candidate, B.Y. Ramaiah, won by a record 2,066 votes margin in a Backward Classes (general) seat. He is likely to be elected Mayor on March 18.

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident that took place in Mahabubabad district of Telangana, a bride-to-be and five other persons killed in road accident when their auto-rickshaw was hit by a speeding truck on Friday.
The bride-to-be, Prameela and her family members were on their way to Warangal to shop for the marriage that was scheduled for February 10, Telangana Today reported.
Auto-rickshaw mangled in collision
The accident occurred near Marrimitta in Guduru Mandal of Mahabubabad district. The auto-rickshaw was totally mangled in the collision. A proclainer was used to pull out the auto-rickshaw from under the truck.

The round-table, convened by all political parties on Sunday, appealed to the 35 panchayats in the four mandals Movva, Guduru, Kalidindi and Machilipatnam in the Eastern Krishna district to pass grama sabha resolution against exploration of oil and natural gas. The Vedanta group has proposed to drill 35 borewells in the Kaza block in the Krishna-Godavari basin, exploring oil and natural gas.
The environmental public hearing would be held on the project at Tarakaturu village in Guduru mandal on December 17. The conference was chaired by CPI(M) East Krishna president R. Raghu and CPI district secretary Akkineni Vanaja at Kaza village.

Environmental experts and academics are up in arms against the onshore oil and gas development and production proposed by Vedanta Limited (Cairn Oil & Gas Division) at 35 locations in the Kaza block in Krishna district in the Krishna-Godavari basin (KG Basin) of Andhra Pradesh.
The Vedanta group has proposed to drill 35 hydrocarbon wells to produce 30,000 barrels of oil per day and 30 million metric standard cubic feet of natural gas in the Kaza block with an investment of ₹650 crore.
According to an official document of the MOEFCC, the exploration will be done up to 10 years in a phased manner beginning from 2021 in the block that spreads in 114.93 sq. km.
