CLIFTON PARK The Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Department’s $4 million plan to expand its Moe Road fire station will go before the town Planning Board on Wednesday.
Voters approved the plan in December; if all goes according to plan, the project would go out to bid in late 2021 and construction would begin in early 2022.
Kevin Bowman, chairman of the Vischer Ferry Fire District’s Board of Commissioners, said the project puts the building in compliance with regulations that have changed since its construction in 1982.
The rules are maintained by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association, Bowman said, and mainly center on personal safety.

SARATOGA COUNTY The southbound lanes of the Northway below Exit 9 in Clifton Park will be shut down again late Saturday night, as the state Department of Transportation takes the next step in efforts to address the crash-damaged Sitterly Road overpass bridge.
All three southbound lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. until roughly 5 a.m. while crews install a temporary Sitterly Road bridge to replace the section removed in another overnight operation last weekend. The full closure will be preceded by a single right-lane closure Saturday during daylight hours to stage equipment.

The Department of Transportation says the southbound on-ramp to I-87 from State Route 146 in Clifton Park at Exit 9 has reopened after Wednesday s major crash.
Two lanes also remain open on the southbound Northway at this vicinity, with one lane closed.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck involved in the accident on the Northway Wednesday causing damage to a bridge that closed part of the Northway for hours has been ticketed.
State police say 56-year-old George Gazzi of Colonie was driving, when the boom lift on the trailer of the truck had raised, hitting the Sitterly Road overpass.
