Police arrest woman after string of fraud
Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a Greensborough woman following a sting of fraudulent scams where she contacted multiple victims by phone, claiming to be from the Australian Tax Office.
Detectives executed a warrant on her Grimshaw Street home yesterday where they located a large quantity of gift cards and receipts believed to be linked to multiple frauds.
The 40-year-old was released pending summons and is expected to be charged with obtaining property and financial advantage by deception and two counts of processing a prohibited weapon.
Detectives are hopeful that this result will cause significant disruption to these ongoing scams.
