Monroe, N.Y.: While the tragic state of Ukraine has slowly fallen out of the news cycle, the deaths and destruction have continued. The U.S. and other NATO countries have come together to support Ukraine, with the U.S. providing $3.9 billion in humanitarian aid and $46.6 billion in total military aid. Even with this, it is important that we continue to support Ukraine through this period and that the U.S. uses its global influence to be a leader in this effort.
Aiken, S.C.: I am one disappointed 100% disabled Marine Vietnam veteran having to ask the Veterans Administration for help. I was wounded five times in combat and had two ruptured discs in my back. Being too young for a fusion at 19, one was removed and repaired.
Woodside: Re “State pols vote ‘yes’ on getting $32K pay bump” (Dec. 23): Looking at the bleak economic indicators on the Main Street for the affordability of daily groceries and basic necessities across the nation, I am astounded by the humongous salary hike New York state lawmakers have awarded themselves making them the highest paid legislators in the nation.
Manhattan: As regular local news watchers, my wife and I cannot figure out why some anchors spend as much, if not more, time reporting ludicrous, nonsensical stories published by the MAGA-leaning New York Post, Fox News, etc. as they do bona fide news sources.
