The Dear Lord called Dinah Burkel home on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. Dinah Elizabeth (Farbo) Burkel was born on January 19, 1942 in Lancaster, MN to Fidessa and Odd Farbo. Dinah attended a country school in Caribou Township of Kittson County, later she attended Lancaster school, Dinah graduated at the top of her class from Greenbush High School in 1960. Immediately upon graduating from High School, Dinah eloped with David Burkel in Badger, MN on June 1, 1960. In spirit of her ambition, Dinah and Dave had four children by the time they were 22 years old. The happy and busy couple made their home and business in Greenbush, MN-raising kids and turkeys. Tragedy moved the family to DeKalb, TX and later to Frazee, MN in 1980. Eventually opportunities moved them to Menahga, MN and then Park Rapids, MN.

Nola Wallace

Nola died in the Park Falls Hospital in Wisconsin. Don’t be sad for Nola Wallace’s passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wallace; parents, Myrtle and Henry Nubson; and two older sisters, Patricia (Nubson) Blooquist and ReNee (Nubson) Rouse. She is now with them. She leaves behind a brother, Henry C. “Buster (Geri) Nubson; sister, Vernette Skip (Bill) Moravek; and nieces, nephews and friends. Nola graduated from Greenbush High School in Minnesota in 1958. She went on to nursing school at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to receive her Registered Nurse degree in 1961. She married Donald Wallace in a Greenbush wedding in 1962 and moved to Glendive, Montana, where her husband originated. He worked in a clothing store until the couple moved to Gillette and started their own western clothing store, called “The Store,” until his death in 1997.
