And now its a pretty much gray. The wildfires, a impacting flights, of course, coming in and out of the islands. Travelers at sfo weve been experiencing delays since yesterday. Some even diverted to other airports. Flyers who have landed in from hawaii are telling us that the damage really is devastating. Though. Several people who lost their homes, pets. Its its going to be a trickle down effect for many years. And as hawaiian officials continue to try to get things under control flights for the next few days, at least will continue to be stop and go with officials urging people to only travel there. If necessary. The devastation course in hawaii really has, you know, many people looking for ways to help. And then overnight tonight as the winds calm down, then were going to see a lot of that smoke just kind of settled in around this area here. So something to watch out for in that location. Although right now, the local air Quality Centers all looking good. Were all in the green, even an oakland right now. And that is because weve had a Pretty Healthy sea breeze this afternoon. He joins us now live from our newsroom with more. Rob, on august 10, 1948. The San FranciscoRedevelopment Agency was formed in for 28 years. Thousands of homes were demolished in the city. The agency at the time said it was addressing urban blight, but those impacted see it differently. Very traumatic. The black and white photos may be decades old, but the pain is very real. For those who experienced the work of the San FranciscoRedevelopment Agency that is scott remembers what it was like watching homes and businesses be destroyed and her fillmore neighborhood, all those businesses and and and build a dozen homes were. Not they were torn down and it became vacant lot. And it looked like a like i said, an atomic bomb hit the film or the demolition happened from 1948. To 1976, with the intent to replace the homes with newly built Affordable Housing. But only a portion were replaced. Mateo county Sheriffs Department says 26 yearold Jonathan Mackey tried to shoplift and hit a Security Guard in the face and and the head with a baton that that he had confronted him with the guard, then shot mackey, injuring him. Mackey has been charged with 4 felonies all related to the alleged assault. He remains behind bars on 150,000 bail. The guards use of force is also under review by the district attorneys office. It will continue to push into the bay and well inland overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. So, yeah, were going to see that cool air make its way to the interior valleys. In fact, a look at some of the clouds out there right now. The Golden Gate Bridge. You have very thick out there out along the coastline in spots and probably some more drizzle overnight again for tonight. Out there right now, temperatures kind of all over the map as you might expect. You got that cool fog along the coast, got some 50s out along the beaches. Still upper 70s, almost 80 degrees in concord. 81 right now in antioch, 75 in fremont. 79 a nice evening in san jose. Stepping out the door this evening. You might want to grab a jacket. Will see that cool sea breeze kind of ramp up and bring the low clouds and fog inside the bay as we head through the evening hours and that will keep those temperatures down. You can see right there already beginning to shoot the gap. The low clouds and fog beginning to make its way right through the Golden Gate Bridge bouncing up into Richmond Berkeley right now in parts of oakland, too. Kind interesting, though, look in southern california, weve got these storm clouds rotating around for remnants of a tropical cyclone. Eugene wrapping around now in Point Conception in Santa Barbara area. Theres a chance some that moisture to work its way up in the bay area right now doesnt look like much was a slight chance. You could see some sprinkles in the south bay may be in the santa cruz mountains, but this always bear watching. You know, any time you get some of that subtropical moisture, theres that threat. The possibility some lightning looks like the atmosphere is not that unstable tonight. Vote keep our eyes fires remote. Only bright dry lightning a problem. But if there is some precipitation. You know, maybe not so dangerous. Yeah, this probably not going to lightning strikes here. You see some of that subtropical moisture making its way up from Point Conception. Some of that comes rolling back in the bay area overnight tonight. So were starting to see a couple of tropical clouds begin to move overhead. Slight chance we could see a sprinkle in the south bay overnight tonight and tomorrow morning, we just got this trough comes out low and that moisture wrapping around that low could make things interesting overnight tonight and tomorrow morning, a little not a lot of energy with that. So i dont think well see lightning strikes. But certainly theyve already seen some lightning in parts of southern california. You see right here, you see that low kind of start to rotate on up toward the bay area. Proud to bring a couple sprinkles in our direction. Doesnt look very impressive in probably wont be more showers up in the Sierra Nevada and then pushing back on shore as we head into early saturday morning. But by sunday, everything begins to change.
