We have all experienced those embarrassing moments when our texts got autocorrected to something hilarious. However, in this instance, an autocorrected message led to the police being called to rescue a woman.
A woman, from Wisconsin, accidentally texted her father that she was being stabbed . The father panicked and reported the incident to authorities and the Menasha Police Department in Wisconsin who were deployed to the apartment.
Autocorrect Leads To Police Action
I used to think autocorrect was man s greatest invention. Until I sent out a few embarrassing texts. But none as embarrassing as a Wisconsin woman sent out.
Eight police officers in Wisconsin swarmed a woman s apartment in Wisconsin after she texted her father that she was being stabbed. It turned out it was an autocorrect mistake . . . she was being SWABBED for coronavirus.
Fortunately, no one got hurt during any of this . . . although we don t have any word on whether the woman tested positive for the virus.
“He indicated that his daughter was being stabbed, possibly by a live-in boyfriend. He provided an address to check on, Menasha police officer Nick Oleszak told the Green Bay Press Gazette. Meanwhile, we tried to call her dad back and tried to reach his daughter, but were unable to reach her.
But as the police approached the apartment, the woman appeared outside unhurt.
It was all a misunderstanding. She had not been stabbed but instead texted her father to let her know she was being swabbed at a local clinic in Neenah, near Menasha, for Covid-19 after feeling unwell.
The woman s phone had autocorrected the word swabbed and changed it to stabbed in the text to her father without her noticing. She said it was fine and it was all a misunderstanding, Menasha police officer Nick Oleszak told Green Bay Press Gazette.
The woman realised her mistake in the text message while she was at the clinic and found out police were outside her home.
