The WinkLINK program – a partnership between the county’s economic development division, Redwood Region Economic Development Commission, Redwood Coast Chamber Foundation, Greater Eureka Chamber of Commerce, Northern California Small Business Development Center and NorCal APEX Accelerator – will connect local businesses with training, experts and education on how to benefit from the offshore wind project.

RWE, one of two companies that won a bid for an offshore wind lease off the coast of Eureka in Dec. 2022, has announced the name of the project as “Canopy Offshore Wind Farm.” While construction is likely to begin in the 2030’s and work remains in permitting, transmission lines and port development, for now a representative of the company said the name represents planting roots in the community and becoming a part of it.
