Worship and outreach with St. Peterâs
The Saturday evening service at 5 p.m. with St. Peterâs Episcopal Church will be a Celtic Evening Prayer. On Sunday at 10 a.m. there will be a Morning Prayer service. The Greater Bennington Interfaith Council is sponsoring hot drinks (coffee, tea and hot chocolate) on the front sidewalk of Peterâs Episcopal Church, 200 Pleasant St, Monday through Friday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Free to anyone who needs a warm-up. Warm clothing also is available at St Peterâs â drop off your donations or pick up what you need. On the front porch of St Peters. Stay six feet apart.
My relationship with the earth has ups and downs.
My earliest memory pictures my grandparentsâ backyard covered with green plants loaded with ripe red strawberries just waiting for me to pick and eat. It was like the Garden of Eden. Like Adam and Eve I delighted in the fruit of the Creator and my grandparentsâ labors.
My next memory must have happened after the Fall. (Genesis 2-3.) It was spring a few years later. I was sent to our vegetable plot, a spade fork in my hands. I, like the fallen Adam, was expected to WORK for my food. My job: to till that earth, a practice much like conventional farming
Virtual live worship at Second Congregational Church
Second Congregational Church is currently holding virtual services live via YouTube on Sunday mornings at 10am. This week we will celebrate virtual communion; worshippers are invited to have bread and juice/wine on hand for the service. The service live-stream is accessible at www.bennscc.org. Rev. D. BENNINGTON â Every weekday in front of St. Peterâs Episcopal Church, on Pleasant Street, volunteers offer members of the public free hot drinks and pleasant conversation.
Itâs called the Community Coffee Pot project and it runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. All are welcome to visit. The outreach sprouted from a meeting of the Greater Bennington Interfaith Council. It was born out of frustration about not being able to find daytime shelter the homeless this winter, said Mary McGuinness, a member of St. Peterâs who participates in the interfaith group. It started the first week of December.
