The Osu Mantse and President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, has passed on.
He reportedly died Saturday dawn sources in the Osu Palace have confirmed to Graphic Online.
He was 57-years-old.
As the Paramount Chief of Osu and President of the Osu Traditional Council, he was first elected President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in 2016 and later re-elected for another term in 2020.
He was enstooled as the Osu Mantse in 2007.
He was born and named as Michael Dowuona-Owoo on November 7, 1963 at Adabraka in Accra to Nii Dowuona from Dowuona We of Osu Kinkawe and Madam Grace from the Wellington family of Osu Alata.

That was after consumers responded favourably to the gradual lifting of restrictions in the economy, with productive activities bouncing back to pre-lockdown levels.

The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs has condemned ongoing rioting and violence related to the 2020 general election.
It said the electoral process was governed by laws and that disagreements with any aspect of the process must be addressed and resolved using the appropriate procedures prescribed by the law, and not violence.
“We are, therefore, dismayed at the events that unfolded before and after the declaration of the results by the Electoral Commission,“ it said in a statement signed by its President Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI.
