Declan keen to grow a career in gardening
After spending the past four weeks doing work experience at the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens, Merri River College student Declan Baulch is keen to find part-time work in the gardening industry.
Declan, 16, was one of four students to undertake work experience at the Warrnambool City Council as part of the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) Disability Work Experience Project.
Merri River School VCAL Teacher Ken Radley, says the program has been transformative for the young people involved.
New fitness equipment for Derrinallum community
Derrinallum residents are set to benefit from new exercise equipment, which has been constructed at the town s recreation reserve.
Residents listed exercise equipment as a priority during community consultation for the Derrinallum Community Plan.
Derrinallum Progress Association President Kevin Molesworth said there had been a good response from the community.
“We’re pretty happy with the project,” he said. “It’s been put in there for the clubs and community.”
The total cost was roughly $30,000, with the Federal Government contributing $20,000 through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Fund.

Corangamite Shire’s North Ward Councillor Nick Cole thanked the Government for its contribution and congratulated the community for its efforts.
