Despite our well intentioned efforts, the process has not worked as well as intended meeting goals related to diversity, predictability and proximity. In our Current System. Families must chose from 72 different schools and arent guaranteed an assignment to any of them. The families with the most time and resources are best able to figure out the application process, research schools, go on school tours, and ultimately receive one of the top choices. Despite the complicated process, our schools are just as segregated today as they were when we implemented the system.
