According to Kenya Friend-Daniel, public relations director for the California-based grocer, the new Trader Joe s near Eddy Street Commons has a tentative opening date of this fall. Friend-Daniel couldn t provide a specific date, saying that it s dependent upon construction progress and could be subject to change.
Steel framing for the new store has been recently put up at 1140 E. Howard Street. The development will anchor the southern portion of Eddy Street Commons near the University of Notre Dame campus. According to a construction design release filed last October, the building will be just under 12,500 square feet and, based on the current construction site layout, will be situated along South Bend Avenue with an entrance off North Eddy Street and a parking lot on the southwest corner.

Customer injures two Wendy s employees when refused a refund
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. A customer who was refused a refund assaulted a Wendy s employee inside the restaurant and hit another employee with her car as she left the parking lot, according to Mishawaka Police.
Around 1:45 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the restaurant on Grape Road to investigate reports a customer assaulted an employee.
When police arrived, they were told the suspect left the scene in a maroon car. Police attempted to locate the vehicle but were unsuccessful.
Employees told police a woman ordered food, then left the store.
