SOUTH BEND â The long-established East Bank Emporium Restaurant in South Bend is for sale.
According to a listing through Cressy Commercial Real Estate, the sale is for the business only and also includes all furniture, fixtures and equipment.
Listing agent John Mester said the sale listing has been live for a few weeks and there has been interest from potential buyers. The new owners would also have to sign onto a current lease with building owner Dave Matthews, which is currently in place until 2024, according to the listing. Mester said owners would have the option to work with Matthews on a new lease at the 121 S. Niles Avenue location if applicable.
It might not be much to look at now, but progress is being made on Trader Joe s upcoming South Bend location.Â
According to Kenya Friend-Daniel, public relations director for the California-based grocer, the new Trader Joe s near Eddy Street Commons has a tentative opening date of this fall. Friend-Daniel couldn t provide a specific date, saying that it s dependent upon construction progress and could be subject to change.
Steel framing for the new store has been recently put up at 1140 E. Howard Street. The development will anchor the southern portion of Eddy Street Commons near the University of Notre Dame campus. According to a construction design release filed last October, the building will be just under 12,500 square feet and, based on the current construction site layout, will be situated along South Bend Avenue with an entrance off North Eddy Street and a parking lot on the southwest corner.
