Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said the Graded Response Action Plan-3 restrictions will stay until air quality sees improvement. With the city s air quality remaining very poor at an AQI of 324, as reported by SAFAR-India, Minister Rai urges continued compliance with GRAP stages to combat ongoing pollution
Delhi GRAP 3: The Commission for Air Quality Management has banned BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel cars in Delhi-NCR due to rising air pollution levels. However, these vehicles are still allowed to ply in Gurgaon, as the authorities are awaiting directions from the state transport department. Nearly 2 lakh privately-owned vehicles in Gurgaon have been affected by the ban, causing inconvenience for commuters. Many are making alternative arrangements for commuting to Delhi, while others criticize the ban, stating that it is ineffective in curbing pollution and only encourages bribery.
The use of BS3 petrol and BS4 diesel cars is now restricted in Delhi, as the city is engulfed in dense smog and Graded Response Action Plan III is implemented.
In a bid to tackle the rising air pollution in Delhi, the government has implementation GRAP 3 in NCR. As per the latest rule, BS 3 petrol vehicles and BS 4 diesel vehicles will not be allowed to ply on roads.
There was a thick haze blanketing the skyline of the national capital and adjoining areas on Friday morning as the Air Quality Index (AQI) breached the 400 mark at multiple locations.
