Backcountry skier killed in avalanche in Berthoud Pass

GRAND COUNTY, Colo. â A backcountry skier was killed in an avalanche in Grand County Saturday, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC).
The solo skier was buried in an avalanche in the First Creek Drainage of Berthoud Pass. Family members reported the man overdue, but had a good last seen point, according to CAIC.
Members of the Grand County Search and Rescue team worked into the night to recover the body. His identity has not been released.
This is the fourth death of a backcountry skier caused by an avalanche in Colorado this month.
