Sai describes himself as a “French, Black, African-Caribbean, Christian entrepreneur,” having grown up in Clichy, Hauts-de-Seine, a French commune in a northwest suburb of Paris, France.
A new 16,000-square-foot space will up the child care center’s capacity from 138 children to 278, making it among the largest child care centers in Grand Forks.
“Especially in the more rural communities, there aren’t too many people that are willing to file any complaint,” said Randy Sorensen, executive director at Options, an East Grand Forks nonprofit that aims to help people with disabilities live as independently as possible.
At a meeting of the State Board of Higher Education on Thursday, Dec. 9, Mayville State University President Brian Van Horn said he has been working “feverishly” with trying to comply with a mandate for Head Start workers. The mandate was issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and requires all workers in Head Start programs to be vaccinated, as well as contractors and volunteers who deal with children. Van Horn said the mandate might imperil some of the services offered by the program.
