Julie, the mayor had on positive things to say about eddie garcia who spent four years affthe chief of police. The chief expressed wanting to move on for some time after personal reasons. Reporter after garcia announced retiring the department lost nearly 600 officers back in 2016. He was so critical in the rebuilding in the morale of the officers and their fact in themselves and their mission. Reporter chief garcia says i came to san jose as a boy from puerto rico and became the chief of police. The chief joined the force in 1992 rising through the ranks. His exurberance was infectious and you can see that he was able to inspire other officers and do better.
