The Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership is helping to get Pennsylvania on track for its 2025 Chesapeake Bay pollution reduction goals. The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation is investing $400,000 in grant projects to improve the tree canopy in Montana s urban areas. It is the largest forestry grant of its type the state has ever received. The department wants applicants to focus on innovative forestry projects to take on the effects of climate change, such as improving air quality and providing shade. .
Federal funds have been awarded to New York applicants transitioning to electric school buses. The $69 million grant is part of the Environmental Protection Agency s Clean School Bus Program Grants Competition. This money will be split between the Evans-Brant Central School District in Western New York, and two New York City school bus services. .
More than two dozen Arizona organizations have laid out their 2024 environmental priorities. Sandy Bahr, director of the Grand Canyon Chapter of the Sierra Club, said while their goals are similar to those of past years, they are now being presented in what she calls "a context of water." At a news conference at the State Capitol, Bahr acknowledged it can be a challenge to get bills heard on topics like green energy, land and wildlife protection but she contended they are part of a crucial battle for Arizona s longevity. "We think it is important that each year and every day, and every way we can we remind Arizona legislators that these are important priorities for most Arizonans and certainly, for our future," Bahr urged.
