COVID spike: Minister seeks 2 lakh vaccines for Mysuru

S.T. Somashekar calls for more RT-PCR tests, vaccine drives Mysuru: Mysuru District reported 260 COVID-19 cases yesterday, the highest this year, in the second wave that has hit Karnataka. With this, the District has reported a total of 56,524 cases so far. In the light of increasing virus infections, Mysuru District Minister S.T. Somashekar held a review meeting with top officials from the district at the Zilla Panchayat Hall this morning to take stock of the situation and chalk out additional measures to be taken for arresting further spread of the pandemic. As the District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. T. Amarnath apprised the Minister that the District needed at least five lakh vaccines, Somashekar telephoned Health Department Secretary in Bengaluru and sought two lakh vaccines for Mysuru immediately. 

Don t harass Kerala visitors in the name of RT-PCR report

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha tells District Health Officers Mysore/Mysuru: Even as the State Government has made it mandatory for visitors from Kerala and Maharashtra to produce RT-PCR negative report to enter Karnataka border, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha has directed the District Authorities not to insist on negative report and allow them after thermal scanning. Two days ago, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar had issued direction in this regard following explosion of Corona positive cases in Kerala and Maharashtra, and insisted on people from those States to compulsorily show RT-PCR negative report while crossing the Karnataka border. This had been done as per suggestions of the COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) headed by Dr. M.K. Sudarshan to prevent second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

Foundation stone laid for new building of All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha’s Mysuru Unit Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that the intensity of light is more important than the source from where it emanates, State BJP Vice-President B.Y. Vijayendra maintained that Veerashaiva-Lingayat community has the strength to become the leading light of the entire world. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the new building of Mysuru District unit of All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha at JSS Layout First Stage near Basaveshwara Circle on Dr. Rajkumar Road here yesterday. Noting that Mysuru is a Punya Bhoomi known for its spirituality, Vijayendra, who is the son of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa (BSY), heaped praises on the erstwhile Mysuru Maharajas for making Karnataka a prosperous State. Pointing out that Suttur Mutt is like Aramane-Gurumane, he said that Veerashaiva-Lingayat community has shaped itself as the protector of all sections of the society.
