Australian father trapped in India dies of Covid © TRINA SOLAR/FACEBOOK Sydney father and businessman Govid Kant died in a Delhi hospital on Sunday An Australian man has died of Covid in Delhi, after getting infected around the time Australia banned citizens in India from returning home. Govind Kant, a Sydney businessman, died on Sunday, his company said. He had travelled to Delhi in April for family reasons. Mr Kant is believed to be the second Australian to have died in India amid a temporary travel ban imposed after a devastating second wave. Australian officials are yet to comment. The three-week ban on Indian arrivals ended on Saturday, but more than 9,000 Australians remain stuck in the country.

A significant loss : A 47-year-old Sydney man has died from COVID-19 in India

A Sydney father and businessman has died in India after contracting COVID-19, his employer says. Govind Kant, an assistant director for energy company Trina Solar in Australia, had returned to India for family reasons, the company said in a statement. He died on 16 May at a hospital in Delhi after contracting the virus at the end of April. Our deepest condolences go to his wife, two daughters and other family members, the company said. This is a significant loss to Trina Solar and mere words cannot express the heartfelt sorrow we all feel upon Govind s passing and we will provide necessary assistance to his family in this mourn period and we pray his soul may rest in peace.
