Second wave of COVID-19 makes situation in Bengaluru grim

Hit hard by the pandemic, situation in Bengaluru is grim. Hospitals are witnessing queues of patients and ambulances; oxygen cylinders are in demand; and occupancy of ICU beds is reaching its peak. Earlier individuals were getting infected with the Covid-19 virus. Now entire families are falling victims. Yet the medical advice is: Better isolate and quarantine yourself in homes rather than going in search of beds in hospitals.
Karnataka CHief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa being sent off from Manipal Hospital
Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, who was undergoing treatment for COVID-19, was discharged from hospital on Thursday morning.
He is likely to remain in home isolation for the next few days.
He had tested positive last Friday and was admitted to Manipal Hospital with fever and other mild symptoms. He had participated in the all-party meeting chaired by Governor Vajubhai Vala virtually from the hospital.
It was the second time he had contracted the infection. He had tested positive for the first time in August 2020. Mr. Yediyurappa had received the first dose of vaccination.
The government has allowed functioning of government and private offices/organisations/ companies outside the containment zone.
All private offices/organisations/institutions/companies shall be allowed to function with minimal strength as far as possible. As far as possible, work from home should be encouraged.
Only essential employees/staff of IT and ITeS companies shall work from office. The rest will work from home.
All telecom and internet service providers and companies offering allied services to telecom and internet services providers are permitted to operate 24/7 with unrestricted movement of personnel and vehicles.
All industries/companies that require operations at night shall be permitted to operate. Movement of employees of such organisations shall be allowed on producing valid ID card/authorisation issued by their respective organisation/institution.

Aimed at controlling the spread of COVID-19, the Karnataka government on Tuesday issued a new set of guidelines as per which night curfew will be imposed in the state from April 21 and curfew will be in place during weekends. Night Curfew is imposed in the entire state from 9 pm to 6 am and there shall be weekend curfew from Friday 9 pm to Monday 6 am, state s Chief Secretary, P Ravi Kumar said.
