GOUVERNEUR â The Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair is back after last yearâs COVID-19 cancellation.
The fair will kick off on Aug. 3, opening at 4 p.m. and ending with a performance from country band, Lonestar, at 8 p.m. Tickets for the concert are $25.
âThe fair will be open from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. every day besides Tuesday,â said Fair Manager Don Peck. âAdmission will be free, itâs been free for the last 12 to 15 years and will stay that way.â
On Aug. 4, the fair will include a performance from the Gouverneur Central School band at 1:30 p.m., 4-H and Open Sheep Show at 1:30 p.m., Carlton Peck Awards at 2:30 p.m., the Firemanâs Parade at 7 p.m., and more.

Bernard H. âBernieâ Knowlton, age 85, of Gouverneur, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Canton - Potsdam Hospital.
He was born in Gouverneur, NY on March 5, 1936, a son of Howard A. and Thelma Fleming Knowlton.
He married the former Doris Rose in 1964. A previous marriage ended in divorce.
Bernie was raised on the family farm in Macomb and graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1954. He went to work for St. Lawrence County when they were building the âGenesee Trailâ, County Route 10. Bernie then started his employment with Kinney Drugs that fall and was an active employee until 1990 when illness forced him to go on disability. He started at Kinneyâs as a truck driver, was a store clerk, a buyer, and advanced to become distribution center and traffic manager.
