SRINAGAR: Officials in Jammu and Kashmir said on Wednesday that 20 more covid-19-related deaths occurred overnight, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 2200, with more than 200 deaths this month alone.
They said seventeen deaths were reported from Kashmir and three from Jammu division, taking the fatality count to 2217 846 in Jammu and 1371 in the Valley. J-K has reported 219 deaths in April so far and include 109 from Jammu division and 110 from the Valley.
Regarding fresh fatalities, officials told GNS that an 82-year-old from Kishtawar, Asarabad who was admitted in a hospital on 24 April with bilateral CAP died last night.

Srinagar, Apr 28: Kashmir today reported the highest ever COVID-19 deaths as 19 people succumbed to the virus here at various hospitals while 2034 tested positive.
Nineteen people who were admitted to various hospitals in Kashmir with COVID-19 infection died today. With these fresh deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 2,227 and the active cases continue to increase while the recovery rate is decreasing with each passing day.
Those who died today of COVID-19 include an 85-year-old man from Gori Mohalla Brein Nishat in Srinagar. He was admitted at SKIMS Soura in Srinagar and passed away last night.
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir reported 3023 covid-19 cases even as 30 more people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, the highest ever toll reported in a single day so far, officials said on Wednesday.
