BEIJING - Facing severe weather disasters recently, China s weather authority has stressed efforts to improve warning services at the grassroots level and for major events.
Since the end of April, severe weather disasters have occurred frequently, and rainfall has increased from the same periods in the previous years, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) said at a video conference Monday.

BEIJING: Chinese State Councillor Wang Yong demanded all-out efforts to organise relief work and rescue the injured after earthquakes hit the provinces of Yunnan and Qinghai.
People’s lives should be taken as the top priority, said Wang, who also leads the State Council’s earthquake relief headquarters.
Work groups and disaster relief forces have been dispatched soon after the quakes, Wang said at a meeting to arrange disaster relief work, stressing real-time monitoring to verify the disaster situation.

Authorities send relief supplies, rescue and medical teams to two provinces
Earthquakes that rattled the provinces of Yunnan and Qinghai over the weekend left three people dead and dozens injured.
The three deaths were reported in Yunnan, in southwestern China, after a 6.4 magnitude quake and aftershocks struck the Yangbi Yi autonomous county in Dali Bai autonomous prefecture from 9:48 pm to 11 pm on Friday. At least 32 people were injured.

XINING A 7.4 magnitude earthquake that hit Northwest China s Qinghai province early Saturday has left 18 injured and disrupted the lives of over 32,000 local residents, authorities said on Monday.
Among the injured, 17 had been treated and discharged from hospital by 8 am Monday, said Li Jun, an official with the provincial department of emergency management, at a press conference.
One victim remains in hospital and is receiving treatment.
The earthquake jolted Maduo county of the Golog Tibetan autonomous prefecture at 2:04 am Saturday. The county is located over 4,000 meters above sea level.
