Michael Resman points out language in an abstract from 1941 for property he owns that excludes potential owners based on their race on Thursday, March 25, 2021, in Rochester. What was written in the abstract was later ruled unlawful. The city of Rochester is partnering with Just Deeds to map out where properties with similar restrictions in their abstract once existed. A postponed discussion of Rochester’s plan to identify and map historic property covenants that once banned non-Caucasian and non-Christian residents from living in parts of the city has been rescheduled for Monday.
