These days, automakers steer clear of delivering road-biased performance trucks, with showroom offerings being focused on off-road sprinting. And since enthusiasts haven t lost their love for the former type of bed-gifted machines (if anything, it has only increased), the aftermarket is more than glad to help. Case in point with the 1993 Chevrolet C1500 we have here, a recently completed build that likes to terrorize muscle cars at the drag strip. 6 photos
Referred to as the OBS (Old Body Style), the fourth-generation Chevrolet C/K, which the original Silverado replaced in the late 90s, enjoyed the kind of asphalt-devouring derivative mentioned in the intro. We re referring to the 1990-1993 454SS, which saw the 1500 receive a 7.4-liter V8 producing 255 hp and 405 lb-ft (549 Nm) mated to a four-speed automatic.

Corvettes have been racing muscle cars for decades and the fact that the latter can now be had with superchargers straight from the factory only spices us the rivalry. As such, seeing a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody duking it out with a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 seems only natural. 6 photos
While Dodge keeps coming up with new ways to improve the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI formula, the aftermarket has been hard at work since 2014, when the Hellcat V8 was introduced and the unit we have here serves as the perfect example of that.
To be more precise, this bad boy packs north of 1,000 horsepower, and the four-digit muscle number was achieved on a stock motor - the beast uses full bolt-on goodies, with this including an E85 setup (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline).

Sure, the C8 Corvette has arrived with its own engine, as a bonus for the new midship configuration, but we mustn t forget that the C7 incarnation of the Vette shares two of its three motors with the still-reigning sixth-gen Camaro. So, what happens when the most potent example of the latter dukes it out with the mid-level offering that is the Z06 Vette? 6 photos
We re here to answer the question with a straight-line adventure, one involving participants that came to the battle without any form of aftermarket assistance.
The muscle car crew is represented by a Camaro ZL1 sporting the 1LE package. And while this does have its advantages, allowing the machine to run with the big boys on the Nurburgring and shedding some 60 lbs (27 kg), the downforce it adds is not something you want when you re doing battle in a straight line.

If we compare the current-generation Chevrolet Camaro SS and Ford Mustang GT, we ll notice that the first is slightly lighter than the second. Nevertheless, in his quest to score one for the Chevy team, the driver of the Camaro we have here put his machine on a diet before doing battle with a Stang. 6 photos
The Golden Bowtie model in question left the factory in eight-speed automatic form. And while the said tranny is a better choice than the six-speed manual for racing, the ten-speed auto packed by its opponent, a 2019 Mustang GT, is still superior.

Last month, Texas once again welcomed the annual high-octane fest that is TX2K, and we ve already discussed quite a few stunts coming from the (drag) racing event. However, with more action-packed footage from the event surfacing, we are now back on the topic to bring you an uber-spicy collection of rolling races. 8 photos
Sure, TX2K21 officially took place between March 16 and March 20. However, after all these years of competitive hooning (the event traces its roots to 1999), it s no secret that the participants don t limit themselves to the daytime runs taking place in the safe environment provided by Texas Houston Raceway Park.
