LABOUR MP for Hayes and Harlington John McDonnell said: âNetanyahu must be imprisoned for war crimes. The campaign for disinvestment in Israel must be stepped up.â
CND General Secretary Kate Hudson said: âMake no mistake, we have seen a victory for Palestine. The young people who have led the fight have stood up to and beaten a nuclear armed state, the most heavily armed in the world.â
Imran Hussain Labour MP for Bradford East, said: âThe Israeli state puts Palestinian children on indefinite detention without charge. These acts that are taking place are grave injustices against humanity. Decades of such brutality shames the international community. End the siege of Gaza. End the illegal occupation. Israeli leaders must be sent to the ICC for prosecution on war crimes charges. There must be the immediate recognition of the Palestinian state.â
PROGRESSIVE Jews have condemned a “shameful” Israel solidarity rally held on Sunday by the British Board of Deputies (BoD), which attracted far-right Islamophobe Tommy Robinson.
The poorly attended demonstration outside the Israeli embassy called in the wake of Israel’s 11-day bombardment of the Gaza Strip, which killed 248 people including 66 children was organised by the BoD and the Zionist Federation.
About 1,500 supporters turned up, in sharp contrast to the 200,000 protesters who joined Saturday’s Free Palestine march in the capital.
The rally was addressed by Israeli ambassador to Britain Tzipi Hotovely and BoD president Marie van der Zyl.
Former English Defence League (EDL) leader Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was among those in attendance.

âI bring a message of defiance from Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the state of Palestine, and from besieged and heroic Gaza, and from the refugee camps â we will not be denied any more,â Palestinian Ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot told the mass rally outside the Israeli embassy in Kensington on Saturday.
More than 150,000 workers and youth marched for victory to Palestine from Speakers Corner in Hyde Park to the Israeli Embassy in Kensington on Saturday afternoon.
Zomlot told the rally: âI am told that there are tens of thousands demonstrating in 80 town and cities around the UK today.

SATURDAY saw the concrete proof of just how much support the brave Palestinian people have won in their battle to undo the dirty work of British imperialism, whose Balfour Declaration handed over Palestine to the Zionist Federation and sent hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into exile, into refugee camps and to early deaths as they resisted British imperialism and its Zionist colonisers.
The Palestinian ambassador to the UK was able to declare to a massive crowd of 150,000 workers and youth: âI bring a message of defiance from Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the state of Palestine, and from besieged and heroic Gaza, and from the refugee camps â we will not be denied any more.â
