CHELMSFORD Incumbent George Dixon and Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman Mark Carota won a four-way contest for two open Select Board seats in the April 6 town-wide elections.
Meanwhile, a four-way race for three open Planning Board seats saw an upset. Challengers Deirdre Connolly and Paul McDougall joined incumbent Timothy Shanahan as victors. Incumbent Glenn Kohl is out, coming in fourth place in the vote tally.
The election saw a turnout of 3,258, or 13% of the town s 25,864 registered voters, according to Town Clerk Tricia Dzuris. It was a great race
Dixon has won his bid for a fifth term on the board; Carota is a longtime member of the Zoning Board of Appeals.

CHELMSFORD Candidates for Select Board and other offices made their case to voters in brief introductions at the March 8 Select Board meeting.
The elections are set for April 6, with March 17 as the last day to register to vote.
Select Board
Four candidates are vying for two open seats on the Select Board, each with a three-year term.
Three of the four candidates introduced themselves to voters at the meeting.
Latosha Dixon, co-chairman of the Diversity, Racial Equity and Inclusion Committee, said, I decided to run for Select Board, because we are the policy makers and leaders of the community.

This is one in an occasional series looking at local candidates running in the Chelmsford town election on April 6. Today we profile Paul McDougall who is running for one of three seats open on the Planning Board, which is a three-year position.
He will face off against Deidre Connolly, and incumbents Glenn Kohl and Tim Shanahan for one of three available seats up for election.
CHELMSFORD, MA Paul McDougall, 53, is making his first run for elected office and taking on two entrenched incumbents to represent the town on the Planning Board. McDougall, who has two daughters, is a graduate of Nashoba Valley technical high school graduate in Westford and owns an HVAC contracting company.
A vision, a plan
Stonegate Construction, Inc., seeks to convert the historic Fiske House and Odd Fellows Hall into a commercial space with a 100-seat restaurant and eight apartments, respectively.
A 32-unit, multifamily complex is proposed for the adjacent parking area.
The 3.5-acre site is located at 1 Billerica Road and Central Square, within the center village overlay district.
The project is a collaboration of multiple developers. The properties are owned by Americal Management, based in Beverly Hills, California.
Project Engineer Kate Enright presented modifications done to better accommodate fire vehicles. This includes turning radius and the type of curbing along islands in the driveway and parking areas.
