I recently completed a 6,200-mile coast-to-coast road trip and as I was exiting Interstate 84 onto Interstate 205 north to cross the Glenn Jackson Bridge, I was shocked and angered over the amount of garbage, litter and filth that lined the highway.
My journey took me through many large and medium-sized cities, and never once did I see the amount of road litter that I saw on I-205 and Fourth Plain Boulevard. The scene reminded me of what I’ve witnessed in Appalachia and New Delhi, India.

The Port of Vancouver has spent the past few years positioning itself as a major import destination for wind energy components, touting its massive harbor cranes and large storage areas for turbine blades and tower segments.

Police on Wednesday said Morise Messiah Smith had been killed.
Officers responded to reports of the wreck on the span, which runs over the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington, around 1:10 a.m., according to police.
The first officers on the scene found a Toyota Rav 4 on fire and a Chrysler 300 that had come to rest against the barrier on the eastern side of the bridge. Investigators believe the Chrysler was driving southbound in the northbound lanes at the time of the crash and the vehicles collided head on. Both drivers were killed and no one else was in either vehicle.
