The team behind the Leith pop-up are calling on their Edinburgh fans to help them transform the business into a permanent bar and bunnerie with karoake. Bundits launched their Leith pop-up just as Scotland entered the last lockdown, which brought their works to a halt and decimated the budget as customers were no longer allowed to enter the premises or purchase alcohol. They are however close to finishing the project and hope to open the venue fully by the end of May. Bundits, located on Constitution Street, will be a fully-functioning pub, with a karaoke room and a private party space.
The Isle of Harris has launched a responsible tourism campaign as travel restrictions ease. Two community land trusts in Harris – the North Harris Trust and West Harris Trust – in partnership with the local tourism organisation Outer Hebrides Tourism, have been working hard in preparation for the anticipated staycation boom . While tourism bodies and operators are very keen to welcome visitors back once again, they also recognise the importance of striking a balance between visitors enjoying the best of the islands “whilst at the same time holidaying in harmony with the local environment and local communities”. A visitor management plan for Harris funded by NatureScot, including comprehensive consultation with the local community and tourism industry representatives, highlighted five key areas of concern. From here, guests can venture to the outdoor terrace to enjoy a drink while taking in the views of the loch – or spotting some local wildlife, including deer, who also frequently visit.
The new look lounge area has a wood burning stove.
All 15 bedrooms and bathrooms have been fully refurbished with the interior design inspired by the surrounding rugged landscape, which has views across Loch Leven or the Pap of Glencoe.
