Chamoli (Uttarakhand) [India], February 18 (ANI): A total of 61 bodies and 28 body parts have been recovered till now following the glacial burst in Uttarakhand, said the Chamoli police on Thursday.
Out of those, 34 bodies and 1 body part have been identified and DNA samples of 56 family members and 49 bodies have been taken, informed the police in a tweet.
Meanwhile, the State Department Response Force (SDRF) on Thursday said that 12 of its teams are engaged in the rescue operation for missing people from Reni village to Srinagar and the communication team is also working simultaneously for better communication in the area.

The Central government today told the Supreme Court that there was no connection between the massive ongoing Char Dham road-widening project and the glacier burst earlier this month that resulted in the death of a number of people in Uttarakhand.
Attorney General KK Venugopal, representing the Defence Ministry, today sought time to respond to an allegation by the chief of an expert committee appointed by the court drawing a link between the two. We received a letter from the Chairman of the High-Powered Panel saying there is a link between the road widening and the Uttarakhand disaster. But according to us, Defence Ministry, there is no such connection. We want to reply to the allegations and need time, he said.
Meanwhile, Chamoli Chief Medical Officer GS Rana issued a video statement, saying all those killed in the glacial disaster suffered bodily injuries, and sludge and water entered their lungs.
