Chamoli (Uttarakhand) [India], February 10 (ANI): There is not much progress in the ongoing rescue operation following the glacier burst in Uttarakhand, said Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Kumar on Wednesday.
Rescue workers using massive earth-moving machines worked through the night to remove debris and rescue some 35 people feared trapped inside a tunnel in Uttarakhand's Tapovan, which was hit by a sudden flood after a glacier broke off in the upper reaches of the hill state.
Scientists at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology suggest that rock mass weakened over time due to freezing and thawing of snow, led to the creation of a weak zone
Radioactive device behind Uttarakhand s Glacier Burst:- The Uttarakhand glacier burst left hundreds of villages sleepless and the investigation behind the tragedy is currently on. The villagers suspect that a radioactive device may be the reason behind the glacier burst. The villagers witnessed the maximum destruction through their eyes. They suspect it is due to the heat produced by a radioactive device that was lost in 1965 during a secret expedition to Nanda Devi. It was conducted by the American Intelligence Agency CIA and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) of the Indian government. The device was left at the base of the mountain in the past which went missing. The device is said to have a life span of over 100 years and it is somewhere in the region and it exploded told the villagers.

The Uttarakhand floods that wreaked havoc in the state on Sunday have so far claimed 32 lives, while rescuers are racing against time to free 25-35 others trapped inside a tunnel near the state’s Alaknanda river.
As many as 150 persons are still missing, officials said.
