LAKELAND – More than 4,000 people were scheduled to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday at Polk County s largest clinic to date.
The Florida Department of Health in Polk County held its first mega POD at the RP Funding Center in downtown Lakeland. The event kicked off at 7 a.m. offering immunization by appointment-only to those who had registered for Polk s vaccine waiting list. I think they have this event organized really well, Roxy Hoover, 74, of Winter Haven said. There was absolutely no wait.
A POD, or Point of Dispensing, is a site used in the event of a public health emergency to mass distribute vaccines, medications or medical supplies.
