This was an attempt by the smithsonian and to do an honest and balanced exhibit about the decision to drop the bomb and the consequences of the bombing. This was the 50th anniversary in 1995. Decided with one of my students, whose mother and grandmother survived the atomic bombing, and whose grandfather died in , we decidedombing to do Something Special to commemorate the 50th anniversary. We would teach two classes on campus and bring students to kyoto.
