ROME (Reuters) – Ireland scored six tries in a 48-10 bonus-point victory over Italy on Saturday to earn their first win of this year’s Six Nations and condemn the hosts to a 30th consecutive defeat in the tournament.
Tries from Garry Ringrose, Hugo Keenan and Will Connors gave the visitors a seemingly unassailable 24-point first-half lead, but Italy hit back before the interval when Johan Meyer touched down in the corner.

A tonic in Rome for Ireland as Andy Farrell s side ran in six tries to win at the Stadio Olimpico.
After two opening defeats for the first time in the Six Nations, this was a must-win for Ireland and the outcome was never in doubt after Italy took an early lead through a Paolo Garbisi penalty.
As the first half progressed, Ireland visibly grew in confidence and the ambition and execution was largely there from the off against admittedly poor opposition.
