Masking in school was again a sticking point for some parents at the Fairfield District 112 Board of Education meeting last night. Three parents spoke in favor of opposing the governor's mask mandate, with some saying due process has not been followed for some students placed on quarantine and into remote learning. No action on the matter was taken. The Edwards County Board of Education met last night. Superintendent David Cowger presented the newly proposed tax levy, which called for a four percent increase. He said that does not necessarily mean tax payments will be higher, just that the levy is set at that amount. The board will vote on the matter at its meeting next month. In other action, the board heard the district has been awarded a $49,000 grant to put new furniture in the district libraries.
