Three items of Arunachal Pradesh have received the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag, officials said on Wednesday. These are adi kekir (ginger), carpet handmade by Tibetan settlers and wooden items made by the Wancho community.

Yak Churpi, Khamti rice, and Tangsa textile from Arunachal Pradesh have been granted the Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the GI Registry. Yak Churpi is a fermented milk product made from the milk of Arunachali yak, a unique breed found in the region. The product is expected to provide benefits to tribal herders against cold and hypoxia.
In line with the 'Vocal for Local' campaign of the state government, NABARD is actively involved in supporting the registration of indigenous products from the region for Geographical Indication (GI), they said.
