See the outgoing president welcoming the incoming president. Republican or democrat. Theyve done it should try to make a smooth transition not to their own clinical purposes but for the good of the United States of america. Everyone has done that. George h. W. Bush and bill clinton who defeated him have votes they graciously with george w. Bush. Remember Hillary Clinton had over 2 billion more votes than president trump. Now we see joe bidens more votes than anybodys ever gotten in the history of the United States or president. And encumber president goes out golfing. Again and again. And pretends he does not have to step back. In fact, actually does Everything Possible Everything Possible to handle the transition. That is wrong. By david wright. Its probably the definitive biography of douglas and especially of what is going on in the United States and the fight for racial justice. Nobody was more consequential and has been more consequential on the question of race in america. Boy ahead of his time. He was not only an abolitionist, passionist and former slave but he insisted from the earliest times in the 1840s, almost towards the end of the 19th century, that equality was the goal. And he would book no deviation from that. He was very clear about what the goal was. And so any of his words ring true today and i really recommend this biography to everybody is a long read but it is really powerful. Peter one of the things that i learned about Frederick Douglass this year was that is also very active secretary. Connolly yes he was very consistent and had a distinguished career and was able to talk to a mixed audience. In a time when that was unusual to say the least. Whistleblower complaint and the process of trying to get access to it. What you know about it . I only know what has been put out there in the media, but what we seem to know is that on more than one occasion the president has had conversation with a particular foreign leader in which explicit, either threats or promises were made that this whistleblower was witness to and felt sufficiently alarming that he felt he had to go to the Inspector General anden report. It turned out a lot of the 9 11 Commission Information came from torture. The 9 11 commissioners were actually sending requests to the cia to find out more information about this and that and so many of the details which they provided in their official storyline of the 9 11 attacks came from torture of some of the suspects. Phillip chennin of the New York Times has done some excellent work on that. Its not just me. You have that look on your face kind of like uhoh, wheres he going with this . Wheres he going . Not at all. Finish your thought, though. I was just saying its typical of how official history is written in d. C. That you have this panel, this bipartisan panel, the 9 11 commission, which largely ab sovld the government and relied on torture. And that fact comes out three or four year
